UPDATE 8/19/2020

With the current status of our schools starting remotely and the State recommending that extra-curricular activities being postponed within our county’s current moderate-risk designation, the 2A Evergreen Conference has made the decision to move Season 1 athletics (Cross-Country and Boys Golf) to Season 3. With this move, the current WIAA High School Seasons will look as follows:

Season 1 – Postponed to Season 3

Season 2 – First Practice 12/28– Boys & Girls Basketball, Girls Bowling, Wrestling

Season 3 – First Practice 3/1 – Football (1st practice 2/17), Volleyball, Girls Soccer, Cross Country, Boys Golf

Season 4 – First Practice 4/26 – Fastpitch, Baseball, Track, Girls Golf, Boys Soccer

Each sport season will be reduced to 70%. An example of this is basketball normally is allowed to play 20 regular season games, they will be allowed to play 14 regular season games under this model.

Rochester High School is not collecting athletic paperwork or participation fees for the 2020-2021 fall sports season at this time.


The Rochester High School Warriors are members of the 2A Evergreen League and the WIAA.  Members of the 2A Evergreen include the Aberdeen Bobcats, the Black Hills Wolves, Centralia Tigers, Tumwater T-birds, and the W.F. West (Chehalis) Bearcats.  Rochester High School offers students the opportunity to participate in many interscholastic sports, including in the fall season:  Boys and Girls Cross Country, Girls Soccer, Boys Golf, Football and Cheerleading.  Rochester also offers Girl's Swimming in the fall through a cooperative team with Centralia and W.F. West.  In the winter sports season Rochester offers Boys and Girls Wrestling, Girls Basketball and Boys Basketball, as well as Cheerleading and Bowling.  Spring Sports offered at RHS include Fastpitch, Baseball, Boys Soccer, Girls Golf, and Track and Field.

For participation in any of the above sports the Rochester School District requires all athletes to pay a Participation fee of $50 per sport, with a cap of $300 per family per year.  Students are also required to purchase an ASB membership of $30 to participate.   The Rochester School District does not want to exclude any students from participation due to financial issues.  Please contact the High School Office if financial difficulties exist.

The start dates for each season are:

Fall sports -start dates to be determined.
Football and Cheer 
Girls Soccer, Boys Golf, Cross Country, Girls Swimming, and Volleyball

Winters sports 
Girls Bowling - November 4, 2019
Boys and Girls Wrestling and Girls and Boys Basketball - November 18, 2019 

Spring Sports
Fastpitch, Baseball, Boys Soccer, Girls Golf, and Track and Field - March 2, 2020
